On a Short-Term Mission

Jenny Lyon from the UK came to Japan in 2009 for a short-term mission. Here she tells us about her time.

~ I went to Japan because I felt God calling me to use my fascination with the country and the language for His kingdom.

~In Japan I was helping with children's clubs and camps, teaching English and generally getting involved with things and getting to know people.

~ My favourite parts of my time in Ja-pan were the summer camps, and living with a Japanese family. They were so much fun and I loved getting to know people.

~ My worst bits were when I felt home-sick and missed my friends and family.

~ My faith changed and developed in Japan as I got to know about and see more of God's amazing love and grace. I became more dependant on God and more enthusiastic to live my life for Him!

~ Now I'm back in Britain I am studying Japanese at university.

~ In the future I would like to use my degree in Japanese to go into translat-ing/interpreting (maybe) but I am not sure what God has in store for me yet.

~ I think short term missions are a great idea. They give you the opportunity to see what full time missionary work is like and you experience God's love in a different culture.
