Monday July 21 saw 60 people aged from 6 months to 65 years old taking part in the first of our 2008 summer camps – our International Day Camp.
We enjoyed a full day of games, English teaching, time to chat, some German activities and songs, a bountiful lunch, a bible message, swimming in the lake and playtime on the beach.
This year it was especially encour-aging to see some single men and husbands from Christian and non-Christian Japanese families join in the camp.
Many of the campers who come along to the summer camps are the friends that are made throughout the year in English classes, church services, Bible studies, Japanese language classes, as well as church members and family.
The Camps are held on the shores of Lake Biwa, Shiga-Ken at the WEC Japan Campsite – which provides a relaxed and peaceful environment
away from the busyness of everyday life in Japan. There are plenty of opportunities for water sports, swimming, games, volleyball, bar-becues and relaxing on the shore.
The greatest opportunity of all, though, is the chance that we as mis-sionaries and Japanese Christians have to share our lives and stories with the campers who are interested in hearing more about God. Others are simply looking for some encour-agement and friendship.
It is great to see that many families and friends continue to come back year after year to join in the camps.
We pray that God will continue to use these camps to reveal more of Himself to the Japanese people.
Thank you again for your prayers.
