Latest Prayer Points

Pray for those new missionaries studying Japanese full-time at the moment: Sophia, Rosa and Kaki. It’s around now that the difficulty really starts to increase!

Rita Feldt has gone back to Germany for six months deputation. Jill Smith will be pastoring Ishiyama church while Rita is away, and asks for prayer for “wisdom and understanding, grace and love, humility and good relationships.”

Also at this year’s field conference, we discussed our relationship with the SFDK, the network of Japanese churches we have planted. We want to find the best way to work together in partnership. We are still deciding the details and need to do so consultation with them, so please pray for God’s wisdom and direction.

Improving new workers orientation

Moving to a new country as a missionary involves many changes, and orientation of new workers is essential to help them find a safe passage through this maze of 'newness', and to build a life in Japan, where they are able to minister to others.

DeborahOver the last three days (April 20-22) our new workers have met together to come up with a revised orientation program for people coming to join the WEC Japan team. Meeting in the local WEC headquarters, Deborah, Jessica, Ben, Simon and Henrietta, all of who have arrived in Japan within the last two years, were led by the field leader through a number of stages of brainstorming, discussion and decision making. The end result is that they now have a proposal to present to the rest of the WEC Japan field members at our conference in May. The photos show some snapshots of the time.
