Eunjeong and Jaenbaeg Lim welcomed a new baby, called Sarang, in May: their third daughter. Pray for them to enjoy and adjust to this new phase of family life.

A Peruvian woman in Ritto prayed with Annette Cummings to receive Jesus: ripe fruit that just about fell from the tree! Pray that Annette will be able to study the Bible with her in future.

Pray for gospel sharing opportunities for all our missionaries. Pray too for our Japanese friends and neighbours to move closer to Jesus.

History

Our history

At the end of the Second World War, General MacArthur called for a thousand Protestant missionaries to Japan. WEC's work began as a response to that call when Lon and Yvonne Fulton arrived in Japan on February the 23rd, 1950.

Why still just 1%?

The gospel message first came to Japan 450 years ago. Many are now asking why it would seem that the message has, as yet, failed to reach significant numbers of Japanese. Just thinking about this prompts a number of questions. Is this assumption even a fair one to make? What has been achieved? What has hindered Japanese from being more responsive? What hope is there for change?
